The Production
We have worked with Theatre Royal Plymouth on many projects over the years. For this project, they were co-producing a brand new play “The Artist” which has been adapted from the Oscar award-winning film of the same title. As it’s a co-production they were keen to roll out a bunch of content to help drum up buzz and interest for the play.
Watch our BTS vlog
This project was a joy to bring to life, thanks to the fantastic team at Theatre Royal Plymouth. Their collaborative spirit allowed us to push our creative boundaries and explore a more cinematic style, utilizing our camera gimbal to capture dynamic, flowing shots that added a touch of magic to the final videos.
Uggie The Star
01
Theatre Royal Plymouth entrusted us with creating a series of light-hearted videos to introduce audiences to Uggie, the charming dog puppet and one of the stars of their upcoming play, "The Artist." In just a half-day of filming, we captured Uggie's Plymouth arrival, his audition, and his backstage preparations.
The resulting videos showcased Uggie's personality and behind-the-scenes moments, generating buzz and excitement on social media in the lead-up to the play's opening night. By focusing on Uggie's endearing charm, we effectively drew audiences into the world of "The Artist" and created anticipation for the show.
The Audition
Thatre royal wanted a video of Uggie as if he was auditioning as a real dog. This one was tricky. Staff of the thatre brought in there dogs and we all tried our best to get them to sit still but thats easier said than done. After a lot of quick takes when all the dogs were in place we finaly got it. The clip was then used as a stand-alone video to start the roll out of this project and lead into the story of Uggie wanting to be a star.
Uggie Arrives In Plymouth
For this video, Theatre Royal Plymouth really wanted a video of Uggie arriving in Plymouth. Visitng all the local landmarks and doing the classic touristy things. Ice cream, chips, a bike ride, what more could you want. After dodging rain showers we managed to get everything. It was really fun to visit all the locations and get cinimatic shots of Uggie in different spots of the city.

Roundtable Talks
For this project, we were only responsible for the editing. The filming took place in London with the main ensemble and Dame Darcy Bussell as the mediator. A series of 10 videos were filmed where the group discussed their careers and the play. The role of the series was to drive more engagement and help build out the prestige of the show. Giving viewers a chance to dig deeper into the play and the people behind it.

Audience Reaction, Vox Pops
Over the years we have done countless audience reaction vox pops videos. There is always so much fun to record with patrons coming out of the show excited and wanting to share their experience and appreciation for the show. Once the show has finished it is always a race to get as many vox pops as possible before everyone disappears and tries to beat the traffic out of the car park!
